My birthday is coming up! I am a big fan of birthdays. In my class, we make a birthday gift wish book for the birthday student. I love this idea! I got it from Angela over at Hippo Hooray for Second Grade! {LOVE her!} We also do a birthday chant that I stumbled across when I was Googling an alternative to Happy Birthday!
I'm not sure who the author of this chant is, but my students and I love it! I print this in color and laminate it as the cover of the birthday book. I then place all of the student birthday wishes inside the book and send home as a keepsake! I also give the birthday student a paper balloon {cut out by my Cricut ;) } and a pencil.
So, now it's my turn! My students are all anticipating a big celebration for me, but, unfortunately for them {and oh, so fortunately for me!!} my birthday is during Thanksgiving break! We'll probably do the birthday chant on Friday and snap somewhere between 30 and 40 times!
Now for the BIG celebration! I'm throwing a Thankful for my First Year with TpT Thanksgiving Sale where everything in my store will be 10% off from Monday, November 24 - Friday, November 28. Then, on my actual birthday, November 25, I'm upping the discount to 20%!
Yahoo! I love to celebrate! So stop by my store and pick up a little something while it's on sale!

Currently | September
My first Currently ~ I'm linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade!
Listening: Nina and Star are so calming! We let my daughter nap a little too long, so now I have to stay up a little later than we should on a school night!
Loving: When my mom-in-law was here a couple of weeks ago, she left a red blend behind. I'm loving it! (and I usually wait for cooler weather before cracking open the reds!)
Thinking: Parent conferences begin in 9 days - - - That's right - NINE DAYS! That's only 7 school days! Time to kick it into high gear so I have plenty of great stuff to share with mom and dad.
Wanting: It's been almost a year since we last went to the Happiest Place on Earth, and I'm really wanting another magical weekend with my hubbs and the lovely seƱorita Lopez.
Needing: Refer back to "Thinking" - with our quarter wrapping up in 3 short weeks, I've got to catch up on grading quizzes, unit assessments, etc.
3 Trips: I LOVE to travel! One of my life goals is to visit all of the continents (Antarctica is sometimes on my list, sometimes off - I DO NOT like the cold!) But 3 very realistic travel goals are:
1. Sweden - my grandfather's family came to the US from Sweden, and although I'm a big ol' cultural mix (the beauty of Americans!), I've always felt a strong connection to Sweden. I hope to see one of my many ancestral homelands some day.
2. Italy - Who doesn't want to go to Italy? The art, the history, the wine. We WILL go someday.
3. Costa Rica - We were supposed to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon, but due to a mix-up with the hubbs' passport, we went to the beautiful, enchanting island of St. Lucia. I would love to take a second honeymoon to Costa Rica, too! Surf, sun, culture.

Teacher Week on Blog Hoppin'!
Here's an easy way for me to get some blog posts out there! I'm joining up with Blog Hoppin' for Teacher Week! Today is:
I am Mrs. Lopez. Notice the Mrs. part? It can be pretty confusing to my students' parents. My husband is a non-Spanish speaking American from Mexican descent. I am a blonde haired (when I have time to go to the salon!), blue-green eyed, Johnson girl! I teach in a 50/50 Spanish/English Dual Immersion class, so parents usually assume that I am the Spanish half of our grade level, thus my blog name: Sra. Lopez Teaches English! I wish I was fluent in Spanish! I'd love to speak, read, and write confidently in Spanish! Just out of High School, I could! But, unfortunately, that was many moons ago...
Speaking of my husband, here is a pic of my little family.
He's devastatingly handsome, isn't he! Sr. Lopez and I have been married for 7 years! That's right! We were one of the millions of 7-7-07 weddings!
And that's our pride and joy right there in the middle. She's a 4-year-old bundle of energy, creativity, love, laughter, and the brightest thing in our lives! Next year is the big Kinder for her, which I'm already dreading (and planning for!)
OK, so there's a little blurb about me. Here's what's coming up on Blog Hoppin' this week.
I may or may not join in :-)

Giving It a Try
Hi all!
I know I'm crazy. I don't have time for a blog, but I'm going to give it a try anyway. My personal family blog hasn't been updated since last Christmas. I already have bit off more than I can chew, but that's generally how I like to roll! If life isn't a challenge, then it can get boring!
So, here's a blurb about me: I am a second grade teacher in a suburb of my mecca, San Diego! I love where I live and teach! At our schools down here, we have lots of Dual Immersion options. I teach in a 50/50 Spanish/English Dual Immersion program. I am the "English Component" of our second grade team, even though I am a Lopez! It gets our parents every year. They expect Mrs. Lopez to be the Spanish teacher, and come meet a blonde (usually) haired, blue-green eyed, white girl who used to speak Spanish when she was in high school. I do, however, love the language and have a passion for multilingualism, which is a big plus when teaching in an intense program like this.
I also have an extraordinary family! My husband, Mr. Lopez (who also does not speak Spanish), and I have the most beautiful, amazing, intelligent, talented, funny, dramatic, etc, etc, etc little girl on the planet! We moved from the beach to the suburbs when she was born, but WILL move back someday.
I love to craft (when I have time), travel (when I have money!), and spend time enjoying the local beauty of San Diego! My favorite thing to teach is math. I love technology, and am always on the tech committee at my school. I have a teeny tiny Teachers Pay Teachers store where I have a few items for purchase and quite a few freebies! Check it out when you get a chance!
Ok, that's enough for now. I'll hopefully be back soon...
